Yes. Yes, I know….it’s been a few months or more since my last post. I still have a lot to tell you so grab a drink, maybe some food and settle in somewhere as I plan to post a lot over the next few days.

In my last post, I left off quitting my job in November of 2019. A decision I still do not regret to this day. I was terrified that nothing was going to work out like I thought and I would be going back to that job. As it turns out, it didn’t work out like I thought but, it wasn’t the doomsday that I thought either. Let me explain why it wasn’t either of those things.

You see, my husband and my children were super supportive and anyone who is thinking of changing careers or doing something that they have always wanted to do need that support system. Having a support system is important because there are days where you will think that you made the worst decision of your life and having someone say “it’s just a speed bump, you’ll get over it” will help you to keep moving forward.

Getting all the paperwork in order to establish an LLC wasn’t too bad. Some people think it’s awful but, a little research and a little digging and it’s not as bad as one might think. Having a lawyer help you is also a big plus. I was fortunate enough that my husband was willing to pay our lawyer to help get the paperwork taken care of to establish the LLC.

Once I had the name figured out and the paperwork filed and all set, I just need to start getting some clients. I had finally decided on a name and the paper work had been filed so I was just waiting for the , hey guess what you are now the owner of this business to come in the mail. By the end of December, I had gotten the letter and was now the owner of JSWebb Development LLC.

While I was doing that, I also started up a podcast with another student from the program. I had mentioned it during class one day that I wanted to start a podcast and asked if anyone else would be interested. They were so after graduation we got to work on getting things in order to release our first episode.

Well, the podcast needed a name and a logo too. We had bounced a few names back and forth and I really wanted listeners to know that we from Syracuse, NY and that even though some people think of us as a small city, there is still an amazing tech community here with even more amazing people in it. I finally had thought of a name that we both liked and agreed upon. That’s when Salt City Code was born. I started working on the logo and had that finished by the end of the year.

I had accomplished a lot in the short amount of time since I had quit my job to the end of the year but, I wasn’t any closer to having a new job or any clients yet. I wasn’t really panicking yet but, it had only been a short time since I had quit. So do I go into full panic mode? Well, stay tuned for the next post and see what happens. I wasn’t kidding when I said I have been on a rollercoaster ride. I think that is the story of my life…..ha ha. See you soon my friends.
